Alexander Orr MSW (Candidate), RSW
Alexander (he/they) is a Registered Social Worker and a student through the Master of Social Work for Working Professionals program at the University of Windsor.
Alexander works from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and systematic lens. He has a wealth
of knowledge through lived experience, research, and in the field of social services. He greets his clients with kindness and compassion and sometimes includes a dad joke or two to break the ice. 😋
As a queer and trans person, Alexander offers a unique perspective and is passionate about helping clients through their journey of self-acceptance (whether this be with gender, sexuality, or other aspects of their identity). Alexander can support individual teens and adults who may have challenges with gender dysphoria, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, stress, strong emotions, self-harm, or eating disorders. He also supports vulnerable youth with developing emotional regulation techniques and necessary life skills as they transition into adulthood.
Alexander draws on different modalities and interventions. Most importantly, he is big on
affirmations and empowerment techniques. This empowers people to make decisions and take
control of their lives.
In his capacity as a student, he hopes to be able to help clients using skills and knowledge he's already acquired through his experiences in the social services field, as well as gain further knowledge in regards to new therapeutic methods and interventions that will contribute to his work as a therapist. He will be directly supervised by Kristie Brassard, MSW, RSW.
Alexander has evening and daytime spaces available from September 2023 until December 2023 for clients aged 16+. Alex's sessions will be subsidized at a rate of $25, $50 or $75, depending on what works for your budget and/or benefit allotment.
